This program is powered by Perlego. It is a digital online library focusing on the delivery of academic, professional and non-fiction eBooks. It is a subscription-based service that offers users unlimited access to over 2,000 academic publishers and offers an impressive 600,000+ professional and academic titles across 900+ different topics and subtopics for the duration of subscription.
Co-op Experience
The co-op term provides you with an opportunity to integrate academic studies with related employment experience. We provide co-op* placement policy in the field of studies.
The co-op work experience could include positions in the following areas:
- Marketing
- Retail
- Finance & Accounting
- Not-for-profit
- Customer Care and
- Administration
Common major activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in day-to-day operational and administrative tasks relevant to the host organization.
- Preparing reports, presentations, documents, and correspondence containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content related to business, technological, and operational activities.
- Providing support in planning of projects and strategies.
- Conducting research, assembling data, and reporting results.
The length of the placement will be 36 weeks (20 hours per week).
To graduate you must attend a course of study of no less than 720 hours of guided learning followed by 720 hours of co-op work placement in the Greater Toronto Area or anywhere in Canada.

1. Fundamentals of Business Communication
This module will help you develop and enhance your written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills, time management skills and presentation techniques, to ensure success in any business environment. You will also learn to use Microsoft Office to help you operate more efficiently and be more productive. Additionally, it Includes “Coaching & Feedback”, “Culture of Feedback”, “Storytelling & Communication” and “One-on-One Meetings” modules form “Manage the Salesforce Way” trail by Trailhead.
2. Project Management
The aim of this unit is to provide an understanding of different organizations, the influence of stakeholders and the relationship between businesses and the local, national and global environments. In this unit you will consider how different market structures shape the pricing and output decisions of businesses, as well as other aspects of their behavior.
3. Information Management
The aim of this unit is to show how communications, knowledge and information can be improved within an organization by making better use of IT systems.
4. Organizational Behaviour
This module aims to provide you with an understanding of individual and group behavior in organizations. You will examine current theories and their application in managing behavior in the workplace. You will also explore mechanisms for effective teamwork and the impact of technological innovations in organizational behavior.

5. Managing Financial Resources
This unit aims to give you an understanding of where and how to access sources of finance for a business and the skills necessary to use financial information for decision-making.
6. Business Environment
The aim of this unit is to provide an understanding of different organizations, the influence of stakeholders and the relationship between businesses and the local, national and global environments. In this unit you will consider how different market structures shape the pricing and output decisions of businesses, as well as other aspects of their behavior.
7. Research Project
In this module, you will develop skills to independently conduct research based on a research proposal relevant to the program and profession. You will also use the relevant research analysis tools and techniques to critically analyze and disseminate the data collected to make relevant recommendations, create reports and present your findings.

8. Operations Management in Business
This unit will provide you with an understanding of the role and importance of operations management (OM) in the efficient and effective production of goods and services.
9. Business Ethics
The aim of this unit is to introduce the concept of business ethics and to examine its relevance when considering business objectives and responsibilities.
10. Business Decision Making
The aim of this unit is to develop techniques for data gathering and storage and an understanding of the tools available to create and present useful information in order to make business decisions.
11. Introduction to Marketing and Branding
This module is designed to provide you with the skills to build a customer profile and analyze the digital market. The module will enable you to understand the principles of digital advertising, the key elements of branding and competitive analysis.
12. Introduction to Cybersecurity
This module is designed to give you basic knowledge of the cyber world. This module will enable you to understand the principles of cyberattacks, the darknet, hackers’ motivations and various advanced technologies.
13. Work Placement
At the conclusion of the program, students are required to complete 720 hours of work placement in a suitable business environment. Appropriate business sectors for placement would include Marketing, Retail, Finance and Accounting, Not-for-profit, Customer Care and Administration. Activities performed will vary depending on the Work Placement site, however, key responsibilities of each student include being supervised by a Placement host at all times and adhering to health and safety procedures.
- Have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent or be at least 18 years of age and pass the Wonderlic test.
For non-native English speakers:
- Successful completion of TSOM EAP Level 3 or
- Have the required IELTS 5.0 score or equivalent or
- Pass the TSOM English Assessment: students need to achieve a minimum score of 80% (32/40 Written Score & 8/10 Speaking Score)
Computer Use Expectation
In order to successfully progress through your studies at Toronto School of Management (TSOM), it is recommended that you have access to a personal computer or laptop. TSOM offers access to computer labs on campus, but availability cannot be guaranteed and some program software may not be available on all open access computers.
You must successfully complete all seventeen modules to be awarded the TSOM Diploma in Digital Business Management Co-op.
The assessment of each module consists of:
- 2 individual assignments or class tests: 25% each
- final exam: 40%
- contribution mark: 10%
If you do not pass the module, you can re-take the module when it is offered next and by paying a retake fee.
